Your Monday Briefing is here to provide a straightforward round-up of Manchester United news from the weekend, beginning with the most obvious place…

BURNLEY 0 UNITED 2
The Reds returned to winning ways on Sunday with an important victory at Turf Moor, following the recent back-to-back defeats against Brighton and Tottenham. It was a great team display, but Romelu Lukaku was the hero by scoring two first-half goals against the spirited Clarets. Paul Pogba went on to miss a penalty and Marcus Rashford was sent off, but our lads held on to win the game.

JOSE: WE WERE BEAUTIFUL
Jose Mourinho was a happy man, admitting he was delighted with the team’s performance and attitude against Sean Dyche’s side. “Everything pleased me,” said the boss. “The first 10 minutes were the mirror of the game. So fast, so creative, even I can say so beautiful. We managed to score two goals which was enough to win, but it shouldn’t just be two, it should be three, four, five, six.”

LUKAKU WAS MAN OF THE MATCH
The Belgian finished top of our Twitter poll and, following the final whistle, he spoke passionately about how we must perform going forward. “We are Manchester United, this is how we have to play in every game and against Tottenham we did the same,” he said. “The people will now see a different side of us. Everything that we worked on in the last couple of weeks is coming out now - lots of quick passing, runs in behind, a lot of action and a lot of chances.”

FELLI CAUGHT THE EYE
Marouane came into the side at Burnley, in one of three changes made by the boss from the defeat by Tottenham, and impressed on his first start of the season. Calm and collected in possession, the big Belgian went about his job in midfield superbly to help the Reds control proceedings throughout. Watch his interview below...

RASHFORD HAS SAID SORRY
Marcus was shown a straight red card midway through the second half following a clash with former United defender Phil Bardsley. It was an uncharacteristic rush of blood from our no.10, who was quick to apologise for his actions on Twitter.

DALOT PLAYED FOR THE UNDER-23S
Diogo pulled on a United shirt for the first time on Friday night following his transfer from FC Porto. The young defender played 79 minutes at Old Trafford for our Under-23s, who beat Stoke City 1-0 thanks to a brilliant strike from Angel Gomes. Dalot hopes to build up his fitness in the coming weeks to edge closer to making his first-team debut.

ROMERO ALSO RETURNED ON FRIDAY
Sergio also turned out for Ricky Sbragia’s U23s, making his first appearance for United since the final league game of last season following knee surgery. The Argentina keeper, who unfortunately missed the World Cup in Russia, played 90 minutes and kept a clean sheet, which will be a huge boost as he works his way back to full fitness.

ALEXIS TO MISS CHILE FRIENDLIES
Mourinho has revealed that Sanchez will use the forthcoming international break to ensure he’s in the best possible condition for United’s busy schedule. Our no.7 decided not play a part for Chile in their upcoming friendlies against Japan and South Korea, which is good news for the Reds. “He’s committed, he’s focused, he works hard," Jose said. "I believe that he will improve."

UNDER-18S SUFFERED A DEFEAT
An unbeaten start to the season unfortunately came to an end on Saturday afternoon after Neil Ryan's side lost 3-1 away at Middlesbrough. Arnau Puigmal cancelled out the opening goal by Boro’s Stephen Wearne, who was later sent off, but goals either side of half-time by Gabby McGill gave the hosts the victory at Rockliffe Park. Neil Ryan’s side are next in action against Blackburn Rovers at the Aon Training Complex on Saturday 15 September.

UNITED LOANEES DID BATTLE
Demi Mitchell got the better of United Under-23s team-mate Matty Willock as their respective loan clubs faced each other in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday. Demi featured for an hour for Hearts and Willock played 74 minutes for St Mirren, who lost 4-1 at Tynecastle.

Elsewhere, Dean Henderson’s Sheffield United beat Axel Tuanzebe’s Aston Villa by the same scoreline in the Championship. Tim Fosu-Mensah played 90 minutes in Fulham’s 2-2 draw at Brighton in the Premier League, Joel Pereira kept his first clean sheet for Vitoria Setubal in a goalless draw at Belenenses in the Portuguese top flight, and Kieran O’Hara couldn’t prevent Macclesfield Town from losing 3-0 at Cheshire rivals Crewe in League Two. Cameron Borthwick-Jackson and James Wilson weren’t involved for Scunthorpe United and Aberdeen respectively.
