Callum Gribbin

Biography

A talented midfield playmaker, with a real eye for a pass.

The Salford-born youngster shone at youth level for the Reds, including bagging a hat-trick against Liverpool in the Under-18s, and was promoted to the Under-23s ahead of schedule. He registered his first goal at that level with a trademark free-kick at Derby County and racked up 14 outings while still eligible for the Under-18s. Gribbin also has experience of the UEFA Youth League, which helped further his footballing education. Coach Nicky Butt felt the midfielder had a "light-bulb moment" during the tie at Wolfsburg as he added the defensive side to his game allied to his silky skills and helped the team to an excellent victory. Injury affected his first full campaign in Premier League 2, and Ricky Sbragia bemoaned the loss of such a creative influence, but he managed a couple of goals from eight starts for the Reserves during 2017/18.
