Adept at the heart of the defence, in midfield or at right-back, he scored United's goal during the disappointing FA Youth Cup defeat to Chelsea in his last year in the Academy. The Stoke-born prospect is commanding but composed in possession and has the attributes to become a valuable asset. Handling the deep-lying midfield role by screening the defence and displaying an aptitude for keeping possession, he enjoys a tackle and stopping opponents in their tracks. Injury restricted his involvement to eight starts and seven substitute outings in 2014/15 with most of his time on the field coming in midfield. He did set up an important winner in the first play-off game at West Brom for Jordan Thompson soon after being introduced off the bench in the dying seconds. He he made his Reserves-level bow in the 1-0 win over Blackpool in the Lancashire Senior Cup and was a regular in the Under-18s in 2015/16. Indeed, he made 22 appearances, all but one as a starter, and ended up with three goals to his name. Scott also had a couple of substitute outings in the UEFA Youth League and will have gained plenty in terms of experience. A versatile member of the squad, he finished up with 16 appearances (10 as starter) for the Reserves in 2016/17 and was offered fresh terms in the summer.
