DJ Buffonge, or to give him his full name Darren Raekwon McIntosh-Buffonge, signed in 2015 following a successful trial.
Despite the setback, United's coaches had seen enough to complete a deal on 13 November for a creative midfielder who is very comfortable in possession. Buffonge was with Arsenal's Academy before switching across London to Fulham and he returned to fitness to boost the Academy side in the Merit Group fixtures, making 13 appearances in total and scoring his first goal, from the penalty spot, in a 3-0 win over West Brom. A fine start to 2016/17 saw the midfielder operate superbly in both attacking and defensive slots in the middle of the park and contribute a number of goals and assists for Kieran McKenna's men. He made 21 appearances in total, scoring seven times, and also managed to break through in the Reserves by coming off the bench seven times at that level. Most of his outings in 2017/18 came as a substitute as he appeared off the bench 12 times, to add to his three starts for Ricky Sbragia’s side. His one goal during the campaign came against Derby County. With quick feet and an ability to beat defenders in one-on-one situations, he has a great deal of talent at his disposal.
