Centre-back who made his Under-18 bow before Christmas last year in a 2-1 defeat to Middlesbrough.

Barrett also came on as a substitute for Zak Dearnley in the 3-0 loss to Derby County in March and will provide an option in defence. Also capable of playing on the left hand side of the backline, the youngster is aiming to make his mark after signing as a first-year scholar and he certainly did that when scoring a last-minute equaliser in a 1-1 draw with Sunderland. Kieran McKenna commented: "It was good for Jake he scored that important goal against Sunderland. He's done well in the Under-18 games but it's always tough for the Under-17s to get regular minutes in the team. He's played well in quite a few games but missed a month through injury and is working his way back up to fitness. He'll look to finish the second half of the season strongly." He had some time on trial at Bury at the end of last term.
