Martha
Biography
A Scotland international striker, Martha has WSL experience and represented the United States at youth level.
Born in England, she moved across the Atlantic aged six and came through the American collegiate system, scoring 47 goals in 78 games for Charlotte 49ers between 2014 and 2017, during which time she was voted the league's Offensive Player of the Year twice. Thomas began her professional career with Le Havre in the French second division and six goals in 13 league games for the Normandy club earned her a move to West Ham in the summer of 2019. She took the no.9 shirt of Jane Ross after her compatriot joined United and netted 10 times in two years for the Hammers, including a WSL hat-trick against Reading in April 2021. Her first cap for Scotland came in March 2020, as she struck twice on her debut against Ukraine. Martha signed for United in July 2021, with football director John Murtough saying: “We are delighted to have secured another fantastic signing in Martha. She is an exciting young striker who has shown her talent at both club and international level. We are looking forward to seeing her make her mark at United.” Since then, the forward has been able to demonstrate her qualities both up front and out wide for Marc Skinner's side. Our no.9 netted her first competitive goal for the club in just her second outing for the Reds, striking home during our 3-1 win away to Leicester City in September 2021.
