Biography

Younger brother of United keeper Sam, Max Johnstone signed for the Reds following a successful trial spell.

The former Fleetwood Town goalie was part of the squad at the Otten Cup, as United finished runners-up in the prestigious Under-19 tournament in the Netherlands. After being named on the bench in the league, he joined the Under-18 squad came on as a substitute when Ilias Moutha-Sebtaoui was sent off during the mini-Manchester derby defeat to the Blues in September. He enjoyed five outings in total for the Reserves and Under-18 sides over the course of the campaign and took part in the Dallas Cup in early 2017.
