Herrera: I'll be back as soon as possible
ICYMI: Ander Herrera is your proud Player of the Month for February, and he's desperate to return from injury...
Happy to win the award It feels very good [to win this]. It’s always good to get the recognition from our fans and our people. That’s why I work so hard, not just to win the trophy [smiles] but for the affection and support of our fans. I will keep pushing hard to help the team. At the moment I am injured but I will try to be back as soon as possible. I feel good and feel much better than one week ago and I am looking forward to keeping on working hard for the club. Close vote but a number of players could have won POTM [Smiles] Yes it’s true. Someone has to win it but the whole team is doing great. We are looking really solid, all the performances have been very solid and we have always been fighting for the result, so we’re really happy with the moment we’re in. I won the trophy which makes me feel so proud and happy, but this is a team game and as long as we keep fighting together I will be happy whoever wins the next one. Tough run of fixtures in Feb starting with Leicester away first Yes and I think one of the things we are improving is we are not conceding too many goals. That’s important and David [De Gea] will be very happy for that [smiles] and Sergio [Romero] as well as he played a fantastic game against Chelsea. We’re in a good moment, now the next step is Southampton tomorrow and then we’ll have PSG. Let’s go game by game and try to get back into the top four. Arsenal and Tottenham are playing an important game for them, and for us, tomorrow so I think we are optimistic and in good moment. All the players are feeling important – look against Crystal Palace for example the way we played with five or six injuries. I think we are building something really good, everyone feels important. The other night for example Fred came in and played after a few weeks and he played fantastically well, then we have Alexis who worked so hard against Palace, Romelu [Lukaku] scored a couple of goals which is important for strikers. Diogo Dalot played as a right winger and he played like a proper right winger so we’re looking forward to the next matches. That game v Chelsea was one you scored in and voted MOTM – big moment for you and the team? Yes because we hadn’t had a good run of results at Stamford Bridge and also after PSG we were a little bit sad because we didn’t perform at our best against them. When we went to Chelsea we were the better team on the pitch, we didn’t concede too many chances, we were solid and everyone worked very hard. When you win against a top team like Chelsea it’s a great feeling. Your injury was so unfortunate as midfield balance was excellent – how keen are you to get back out there? I want as soon as possible to be fit to help the team. We can also feel calm because we have players like Scott [McTominay] and Andreas [Pereira] ready to help and to add new things to the team, it’s fantastic. I always say the same when I’ve been playing or when I haven’t been playing if you want to have a successful season and be a winning team you cannot play with 12 or 13 players, we need help from everyone. And even more now because we are playing in big competitions and in the last couple of months or so we have played maybe 15/16 games, the schedule has been crazy. So we need help from everyone. At this moment we’re in a bit of an unlucky moment because of injuries but we can trust all the players. Even if you play for five minutes you must play your best and try to help the team win. Message for the fans who love singing your chant! [Smiles] Yes against Chelsea I was too focused on the game and I didn’t realise how loud they were singing my song, so thank you to them all for that! I feel their support every single day of my life here in Manchester and at United and I will keep trying to make them all proud. The way I can do that is on the pitch, running, working, helping my team-mates and giving everything. I think not only me, I think everyone should be proud of what the team is doing, every single player when they have the chance they need to be ready to help and fight for the badge. I’m optimistic as I told you before and I thank all the fans because they show me their support and love every single day so I say to them ‘let’s keep fighting together’.
