Herrera reacts to 'difficult' Chelsea loss
"Of course it is disappointing for us because we wanted to win," explained Ander Herrera on MUTV.
It’s frustrating for the fans but you wear that badge with pride... Herrera: "Of course I’s disappointing also for us because we wanted to win, we came here to win, we pressed them up and created a couple of good chances in the first half. They did as well because they are a good team but we had very good chances in the first half to score, also in the second half a couple of good shots from Fellaini and Rashford as well. I think in the first half the team who scored was going to win the game and luckily they did it, they scored the first goal and put five at the back plus four midfielders so it was difficult but even though we created a few chances we cannot be happy of course because when you lose against a direct opponent you’re sad. I think we did good things, also things to improve but some good things today." The first half began very brightly, some really positive moments. The second half you seemed to begin a bit more slowly, why is that? Herrera: "They started better than us the second half but that can happen in football. If you have to analyse every game then it becomes difficult so the first ten, fifteen minutes they played better in the second half but we played better in the first half." There was some marginal moments in the game and it seemed again as a fan watching that some of the split decisions weren’t going our way... Herrera: Yes, the chances are those moments. I think if we scored from Rashford or Lukaku in the first half or Rashford in the second half or Fellaini in the second half then it could be different but that’s football." Did you think in that moment an equaliser would come? Herrera: "We tried to react after the goal but they put five at the back and four in midfield so it was difficult even though we created a couple of chances, but we couldn’t do it." It’s a bitter pill to swallow now with international break and a long time to think about this result... Herrera: "Yes, when you lose you want to play as soon as possible but we have to wait a couple of weeks but also it’s good to have some rest. Some players have played every game since the other international break so it’s good to have a good rest and recover and energy."
