Andreas: We showed great mentality
Andreas Pereira explains how we forged our gutsy victory at Burnley...
Q: Andy, well done. We saw from the celebrations in front of the fans there at the end it seemed to mean a lot to the team? ‘Yes, you know we knew it was going to be a difficult game. Difficult stadium here. It was important after victory against Newcastle, we wanted to keep going. It was a good test and we did well.’ Q: What do you need to come here and win? It is a physical battle, isn't it? ‘Yeah, we know they play very direct and in the air and it's very tough to play here but we showed great mentality. When we had the ball, we got it down and we played very well.’ Q: A lot of people talk about clean sheets but it was so important tonight to keep one, wasn't it? ‘Yeah, it was important. I think the backline and the midfield as well did very well. They were very calm and they controlled the game for us and made it easier for us in attack.’ Q: The first goal, your assist. What do you remember about that? ‘I just remember pressing the left-back and I got the ball and when I got it I just seen Anthony straightaway. When I seen the pass, I knew it was a goal when he touched the ball.’ Q: The form that he's in, you just expect him to score now, don't you? ‘Yeah, Anthony is in great form and Marcus as well. It's just the way, if I turn my body and play the ball into them you know it's going to be a chance or a goal, so I'm very happy for them.’ Q: I think we expected them to improve in the second half but it's not as if they had many chances really. David made one save and that was pretty much it... ‘Yeah, he did one great save but we were on top of them. We knew their strengths, we knew we had to press them and when we had the ball we tried to keep the ball and don't let them grow into the game and that's what happened.’ Q: One point off the top four now, Arsenal coming up on New Year's Day. Confidence must be high? ‘Yeah, confidence is really high but we must keep going. We have to stay humble and work hard. We have to keep this momentum going and hopefully New Years' Day, my birthday, get the win.’
