Young reflects on disappointing day
Watch as Ashley Young gives an honest assessment of United's 3-1 defeat to Liverpool.
Ultimately, two deflected goals have cost us in the end. What do you make of that? It's disappointing. I don't think there's a lot more we can say. Obviously, two deflections, but there were times when we'd got back into it at 1-1 where I felt we could have gone on and won the game but it wasn't meant to be. Like I say, it's disappointing. At 1-1, particularly in the second half, there were a lot of long-range shots from Liverpool. It looked as if we were surviving quite comfortably. How frustrating is it that those goals came like that? Of course it is. Obviously it's always disappointing to concede. I think we were containing them. There was a lot of pressure in the second half, which we expected. I didn't think they were going to score and then obviously the two deflected goals — it deflates us and they go on to win the game. It's definitely a disappointment. What did you make of the performance overall? You're always going to come under a bit of pressure when you come here, but did you think it was going pretty well? Yeah, especially in the first half, after their goal. We got ourselves back into the game and I think for large parts we had time and space on the ball to play. I think at times we did that. We could have done it even more. But like I say, we've come off the pitch and lost the game so we're disappointed in there. It’s a tough one for the fans to see the team lose isn’t it… It's never nice for United fans — this is the last game you want to lose if you're a United fan. They're fantastic and they have been all season. It's disappointing for them as well as for us. We've got to try and take the positives out of the game and be ready for the next one. Is it frustrating that it's a week until the next game? Is it an example of one of those where you'd want a game on Tuesday or Wednesday rather than waiting? Of course. When you lose a game there's always disappointment and you want to play another one straight away. We have to wait a week so we've got to prepare and hopefully go there and get the three points.
