Ole explains his XI v Burnley
The boss talks us through his team selection ahead of kick-off at Turf Moor...
Edinson Cavani is in the starting XI. It’s a timely return for him? “Yeah of course he was disappointed to lose the games he did and now he’s ready to go again. He was just getting some momentum, his form was good but he’s trained well and it wasn’t too long because we’ve had so many games anyway, in such a short space of time.” It’s a really potent attacking line up as well, with Martial and Rashford alongside him there’s goals in the team? “There’s goals in the team, there’s energy in the team, fresh legs and we should be able to defend as well. It’s a big thing here that you get pressure on the ball. You’ve got to get around the ball, you can’t let them into your own half and outrun you. We know all about the qualities of Barnes and Wood up there and the quality of crosses. We’ve got to try to be stopping them high up.” Great to see Eric Bailly on the teamsheet. He took a knock last time out but he’s a warrior and will have been begging to play… “He wanted to play, he was ready. He came through yesterday, he didn’t do everything but he was OK. Victor had a little reaction so we left him back and Eric was ready.” A positive result takes you to the top of the league, that’s in the back of your minds. It’s all about getting the players to do the jobs you want them to do… “Yeah, you’ve got to focus on the next game, on this game, these 90 minutes. You cannot think too far as a player, that’s for the fans and everyone else to do that. We just have to focus on our jobs.”
