De Gea: We created enough to score
TranscriptDavid says the dressing room is down after our draw with Arsenal, but maintains there are some positives to take...
We feel disappointed in the dressing room. We feel we missed a chance to beat Arsenal today. I think we did enough, we created enough chances to win. Maybe just the 10 minutes they had in the second half. We had our good chances as well, but we did enough to win today. If we want to win, we have to score the chances. Particularly in the first half we were in real control of the game… I think so, the first half was for us. We created enough to be at least 1-0 up. Like I say, if you miss your chances it’s impossible to win. The good thing today is. We defended really well, we controlled the game. Big games coming up, and we need to be 100 per cent ready. Clean sheet here which takes some doing and you weren’t really in that much trouble apart from a little spell in the second half perhaps… Like I said, those 10 minutes they had in the second half, they could have scored. They had good chances, we play against Arsenal away and they’re a good team. I think we played well. Recover as soon as possible and be ready for Southampton. Bet you were glad to see that ball hit the crossbar… Yes, I think someone touched it, it was a massive touch. I think Rashy touched it and it hit the crossbar. It was a good touch, a good wall. It’s good for us. We kept a clean sheet, so we feel happy. You’ve got so many attacking players, is it just frustrating we couldn’t find the net today? Yeah, that happens in football. Sometimes you create enough to score, you create chances and play well but the ball doesn’t want to touch the net so you can do nothing. Be ready for the next one, it’s a big one again and try to score the chances we missed today. It is a club record 18 away league games unbeaten, in more than a year. It’s an incredible record, but I suppose it doesn’t feel like it at the moment… It’s not easy to be 18 games away from home unbeaten, especially in the Premier League. We need to do some good things to be honest to feel away from home like we’re playing. We’re winning games, we’re playing very well. Maybe now we need to improve a bit at Old Trafford, this is important for us. The team is good, we are confident, so let’s go for the next game. Ready for Tuesday then? Of course, you have to be ready. Games coming quick, many, many games. Big one against Southampton. They’re a good team, so it’s going to be a good fight.
