Donny: We've got our eyes on the weekend
TranscriptVan de Beek was happy with United's third consecutive win, but says there's work to do against Southampton...
Donny, we needed the win tonight so is that a good job tonight? "Yes, I think a good reaction from the away game. 4-1, at home, I think you can be happy." Was that football we played in the first half some of the best you've been involved with at United? "Yeah, I think the first half was really good, especially the first 30 minutes. We play really nice football, we score nice goals. I think second half we lose too many balls and we gave them some chances, but the last five minutes we control the game again and, yeah, we make a nice goal also." Did you enjoy getting involved in that link-up play in the first half? Yourself and Bruno around midfield... it just seemed as though it worked really well? "Yeah, it worked really well. Some games I play no.10 and sometimes the coach needs me in the counter-opposition. That's fine for me. Before, in Ajax, I was also playing in that position, so that's okay." Is it difficult when you're 3-0 up and maybe the game might feel like it's almost over? Is it difficult to keep that going in the second half? "Yeah, I think we have also some chances to make the fourth goal. But we didn't do that and we lose too many balls. Then the control of the game, you lose that. That was not good from our side." But nice to get that fourth at the very end, to give the scoreline a boost? "Yes, that's true. Now we need to keep the eyes on the weekend - that's also really important." Just a word on the Champions League. We're top of the group, but there's still a job to be done I guess? "Yes, that's true. It's not finished, but we are in a good position and we need to keep working, and then everything will be fine."
