How Rashford reflects on 199 United matches
“It's gone very fast & I remember the first like it was yesterday," says Marcus, ahead of his 200th Reds appearance...
How do you reflect on your 199 United appearances? “It's gone very fast and I remember the first one like it was yesterday. But these are the moments when you want to grow. I remember when I first came into the team, you are not even thinking about when your 200th game is going to be. We have played a lot of football and it is just a credit to the club, really, to give somebody the opportunity to play that many times. Hopefully I can keep doing my best and keep helping the team.” You made your 100th appearance against Leicester when Harry Maguire equalised. Things move quickly, don't they? “Yeah I remember that game like it was yesterday. Things move quickly but you have to enjoy each moment as it happens because before you know it there is something else that betters the previous one. So, you have to enjoy the moment, hopefully we will win the game and if we do then it will be a good day for me.” Is it a testament that you have stayed in the team throughout your four years so far? “Yeah, it has been tough. It is tough to get in the first team and I think the biggest challenge is how long you can stay there. As long as I can keep doing my best, keep helping the team and keep improving, that is all that matters.” Has the club helped you develop physically? “Yeah I think physically and mentally. You become so robust and get used to playing 50 games a season. It is probably something that, when I was 18 and first came into the team, would not have been physically possible. So, it has been a long process, four years since I first played, so it has taken a while to get to this stage, but we are here now and it is about seeing how far we can go with things. As long as I can keep improving as a player, and the team is improving, and we can see where we are going, then that is the most important thing.”
