Shaw: We're really confident right now

Transcript

Luke on his second United goal, Rooney and our superb away fans...

Transcript

Q: It could have been an awkward tie, but was that a job well done in the end?

LS: Definitely. The first 20 minutes were quite difficult at times, but once we got the goal we felt fairly comfortable and we went on from there stride by stride and we got a very good result in the end and another clean sheet which is always nice.

Q: The goal. Jesse is not claiming it, is he?

LS: He’s trying to, but no chance is he having that. I haven’t seen it again, but he’s saying it came off his back. To be fair I’d be quite embarrassed to claim that if I was him. He can let me have it for once and he can just leave it.

Q: A great celebration in front of the wall of United fans.

LS: Of course. My last goal was quite a while ago and it was nice to hopefully get my goal today and hopefully I can get more to come for the rest of the season.

Q: And you set up Odion for his goal as well. That’s two goals for him. He seems to have hit the ground running.

LS: Yeah, of course. He’s flying and the manager said before the game, when he gets a chance there’s not many he misses. He could have had a hat-trick tonight and he could have been going home with the match ball, but two goals and two good finishes. We’re very pleased for him and long may that continue.

Q: You were up against an old team-mate in Wayne, who was heavily involved throughout. The United fans were singing in his name for most of the second half.

LS: Everyone knows Wazza is a massive legend at United and, when I came off sitting on the bench still watching him, he’s still got it and he’s still an amazing player. He was a very big threat today, so it was nice to see him again and nice to see him doing really well as well, so we wish him the best for the rest of the season.

Q: You’re through to the quarter-final. A big chance to get to Wembley.

LS: I’m very happy with the tie. I was watching it last night, but it doesn’t matter, home or away, we’re feeling very confident at the moment. We’re sort of going stride by stride, so we need to keep going, keep the confidence up and keep getting the victories.
