Ole: We will go to Barcelona with belief
Transcript"We will go there with belief and knowing we can create chances against anyone," says Ole in our interview...
Your lads gave everything tonight. Not the result you wanted tonight but they gave you a lot. Yeah. The effort was there, the attitude was there, some quality was there as well, but the last little bit lacked. I thought we started slow, sloppy, maybe a bit anxious and I think we didn’t start until they scored. A good goal by the way. They were a little bit lucky. Great movement by Messi and Suarez, lucky with the deflection, but after that we settled down. I thought the rest of that half we created chances, got wide, got good crosses in the box, just couldn’t get that first header on target. It was just creating the clear chances wasn’t it? That was the thing despite the good possession. Yeah. Gerard played really well at the back for them as well. He’s a top defender. I thought we, as I said, came, got round them, put crosses in the box, just couldn’t get that luck of the draw if you like or that last little bit, but it was important that we didn’t concede another one. They didn’t create too many chances either. David had one or two okay saves but that was it. We kept them quiet but the last 15 minutes we couldn’t really get hold of the ball to put that last pressure on them. And in the midfield were a lot of elite players. Scott McTominay looked right at home. Exactly. What a performance by the kid. Strong, athletic, gets about the pitch, wins the ball, but what was impressive today is the way he settles us down, how calm and composed he was with the ball, so very pleased for Scott and he’ll have a big part to play next week, because we’ll go there with belief and knowing that we’ll create chances against anyone. Do you think of the PSG situation where at 2-0 I don’t think many people really did think there was much of a chance and you turned that around. This time you’re going there with a 1-0 deficit. Still well in the tie? Yeah, we’re still in the tie, but we know that Barcelona at home are a good team, they are confident at home, but today gave us glimpses of what we can do. I think we need to step it up a little bit. I know it’s the first time for a few of these that they’ve played. I think Diogo came really well out of the game, started as a team, a little bit tentative and sloppy but then he grew into the game, so we’ll grow from this performance. Should be a special night shouldn’t it? A great place to go. You never know, do you? Yeah one of these special nights, but we have to go there believing that we can and have to and that will be history made, so if we want to get in the history books why not next Tuesday?
