Ole: I'm very happy with the attitude and spirit
Transcript"The whole team, they deserve praise - I know how mentally tough it has been for them," explains the boss...
You always want a win, but are you happy with what you saw? “Of course we wanted to win and we could have won it. We had some moments, they had some moments and probably a draw was a fair result. I try to look at games with the red glasses not on, always, but we could have won it and I am very happy with the attitude and the spirit, and the recovery we have made from Tuesday night, because was a big blow and a bit set-back of course.” Did we see the real United when it comes to the defence? “David has made a fantastic save from Mahrez, Harry made two great blocks from Sterling and De Bruyne, I think it was. The defending was great and I have to say, we stood up. We stuck together as a team. We defended really well. They didn’t create too many moments and, of course, we wanted to score goals ourselves. We were close from a few corner-kicks: Harry had a header, Scott at the back post could have tapped one in at the back post, Victor had a couple of headers and I think Marcus had a couple of decent moments. We could have won it but it wasn’t to be.” Was set-pieces something you work on because you seemed to be causing them problems? “I think we have a bit of a physical and height advantage, so we worked a little bit on it yesterday and almost got the goal that we needed.” VAR worked against us… “Yeah, I didn’t see Marcus being a foot offside, probably. I didn’t see when the ball went that he was off, so I was disappointed when that flag came up.” It was a team performance, but I thought Fred and Shaw were excellent… “I’m very happy with the contribution of them. I just said David made a great save as well and maybe that will make a headline, but probably not, because then he’s just doing his job. Harry made a couple of blocks and I thought Harry stood out as well. The whole team, they deserve praise. I know how mentally tough it has been for them, and for myself for that matter, after Tuesday night’s disappointment. They picked themselves up and got a result, a clean sheet and that is something to move forward with.” You have got five days to prepare for the next game now, which is rare… “They’ve got Sunday off now so it’s a day off for ourselves as well.”
