Solskjaer: Our attitude was spot on
“We had different scorers, confidence has spread & we kept a clean sheet, so there are lots of positives,” says Ole...
Q: Before the game, I spoke to you and you mentioned about getting the attitude right. Obviously that was spot on today? OGS: "Yeah definitely, spot on. You see that pitch and I can understand if players feel I don’t want to play on this. We made sure before the game we had the right attitude. Go out there and do the job. Everyone is waiting for us to fail because it’s set up for that and they were excellent, the players." Q: It was pretty much done and dusted within 15 minutes, which I suppose is the ideal scenario from your point of view? OGS: "Of course, early on they had a little burst in the first few minutes. We stood up well against it and when you score three goals in 15 you’re delighted. Different scorers, which also is good, confidence spread around, clean sheet, we scored on a set play so loads of positives." Q: Harry Maguire, when you think of his first goal for the club, you think of a header from a corner but to do that from 25 yards… OGS: "We’ve been waiting for that header for a long time! It’s a great way for him to open his account and let’s hope he continues." Q: And Diogo’s first goal for the club, Phil Jones’s first for six years… OGS: "No loads of positives. Strikers scored in the end, Jesse scored so very pleased with the attitude. We made it look easy at times and I thought we played well on this pitch. I thought we were excellent." Q: What did you make of this surface overall. Like you say, they could have not fancied it today but there was no complaining whatsoever… OGS: "No complaining. Of course they knew they had to concentrate and focus but we said we want to play our way find space, pockets, try to play on the floor. If we try to play direct, in the air, we’re not really that type of team. We worked out a way and I can’t complain." Q: Did anyone stand out for you today or was it more of a team performance? OGS: "Team, definitely the whole team, the whole attitude. From this morning when we met at Carrington, everyone’s been focused. We want to go far in this cup. It’s a great competition." Q: Into round five. It goes quickly this competition doesn’t it? OGS: "Yes, and we might get a home game, you never know! I don’t want to jinx anything, but let’s wait for the draw." Q: A good start to a fascinating week with City and Wolves coming up as well… OGS: "Another long week. It’s been relentless two months and we’ve got two more games before we have a little break, so the players will have energy enough for those two games."
