Solskjaer: Martial begged to come on!
TranscriptOle was in buoyant mood as our no.9's late goal put the gloss on a comprehensive aggregate win over LASK...
Competitive night, but got the victory in the end? Yeah, we expected them to come out flying and aggressive because we've seen them before and of course there's a new coach who wants them to work hard. We expected it. It's difficult when they haven't played for a while, our players. They've been in and out, 10 or 15 minutes each but not many have plaued 90 minutes and definitely not together as a team. It took some time before we got the rhythm but we won the game and that's job done. Did that spectacular goal spark us into life? Yeah and sometimes that happens at Old Trafford. You want teams to score early on so you know you've got 80 minutes to score yourselves. Good reaction, two good goals. Anto he asked or he begged to come on because the space is there. We wanted to win the game so we had to put him on. Good night for Juan, couple of assists from him in that central role. He obviously relishes that? I thought we linked really well for a spell second half. Some nice football and we could have scored more goals, should have scored more goals. Some of the play was good, some less good, but we're now travelling to Germany as a group and everyone's got minutes under their belt. They're ready to play if called upon. FC Copenhagen for a place in the semi-finals. I guess you'll know some people there? Yeah, I do. I know Stale [Solbakken, manager] really well. A good friend of mine. I did my pro licence study with him in Copenhagen, so I know what there is to know about Stale probably. And he probably knows what there is to know about me! I'm looking forward to it. Guillermo Varela part of that squad too, he'll look forward to it presumably... He'll relish that one probably, of course! But we just have to take one game at a time. We want to stay there for 12 days of course but it could be two days so we need to make sure we perform.
