Ole's pre-match interview
The boss explains the five changes he’s made to his side and what he expects from Cavani, on his birthday...
Ole, five changes from midweek. Can you just tell what your thinking is with your selection today? "Well, it's the relentless season and scheduling, of course! We need to try and keep as fresh a team as possible, be ready, both mentally and physically. It's about keeping, say, the tightness in the group. We've lost a few players through some injuries, and some, of course, we sent out on loan. Everyone [here] now knows they are going to be asked to contribute and that's the way it's going to keep going." There's a couple of landmarks today: Fred's 100th appearance for United, Edinson's 34th birtjhday... "Yeah, and he still looks young, and still looks young when he's on the pitch! So hopefully we can have something to cheer about after the game. But it's just about coming here and doing a professional job. We know it's not going to be a really enjoyable until you score a few goals here. We've got to dig in, earn the right to play football, and be professional." In these games when you're expected to win, is the attitude the most important thing for the players, when you're in a game like this? "Attitude is vital. If you come in knowing that if you work hard, do all the basics right, earn the right to play your football, then the talent and the skills will come through. And hopefully we can create chances, and then we need to take them, be clinical and ruthless in front of goal, because you don't like too many games going to the wire, as we have done too many times."
