Happy to be through? “Yes, very happy to be through. We started really brightly. I expected it to be the other way round that we needed 15 to 20 minutes to get going and then find the rhythm but after a very good start we lost our shape, we lost too many balls. We lost them easily. We started making difficult decisions and trying the complicated things. Maybe to show the manager that I want to play in the next game. I know they are good players so they don’t have to do that. But we are through and that’s the main thing.” Update on Eric Bailly injury? How serious? “I honestly can’t tell you. He got a good whack. I don’t think it is concussion. I think it is his neck which is sore. Hopefully a muscle injury but we will have to check him tomorrow and fingers crossed he won’t be out for too long.” Thoughts on Philip Zinckernagel. Can he be a success at Watford? “Yes I think so. Definitely. He had a great spell at Bodo/Glimt. Done really well. Probably more suited to the right side. But he can play both sides with both feet. Very skilful. He scores goals and makes goals. I thought Brandon Williams did very well against him.” Thoughts on Brandon? “I thought Brandon did well. He had a very good game. He has not played for a while. He’s playing on the right-hand side. We want him to be an attacking full back and it might be easier for him on the right side. I'm very pleased with Brandon. One of the positives.” McTominay seems to have everything to be a captain? “Yes. He’s got great character, good attitude. He comes in every day and does the right things. Lives his life properly, wants to be the best he can be. Not afraid of being vocal. But he always, always goes out there to give his best. Never shirks a tackle, nothing. He has everything a leader has to have. So I just wanted to test him how he reacted because he always does that anyway and so I gave him the armband to see if there was any change in him, but gladly there wasn’t.” Did you think Donny took the opportunity? “I think Donny showed again his qualities. He is very technically clean, makes good decisions. What a little flick to play Juan through in the first half. He has that quality to open up tight games so definitely he will benefit from this game as well.” Paul, Luke, Victor rested? What was the thinking? “They were injured.” Mason Greenwood? Played up front but drifted out to the right. Where was he supposed to play tonight? “We had a front four with Dan, Juan, Jesse and Mason on front of them with licence to chop and change a little bit and find positions. Mason is naturally a floaty forward anyway. Sometimes when you are young to stay up front is a challenge and he wanted to get a touch on the ball. He benefited from this game."
