Thinking behind such a strong side?

“We played against a very good team and the start of the game showed why it was important. They got a penalty early, luckily they missed it. You don't want to go into half-time in this game one or two down. Of course we wanted to get players through unscathed and I felt the first ten or fifteen minutes were a bit slow but then we played some very good stuff in the first half. Second half not great with the ball but solid at the back, good defending and kept them away from our goal. I think it just proved how good the performance was last week.”

Could you explain how you feel about giving Shola Shoretire game time?

“Shola is going to be a good player for us. Sometimes you need to test them against good players and we knew Real Sociedad are a good team, but they are also good individuals and the press and we felt Amad had to come on, of course, because Dan had to come off and then the two of them, Shola and Amad, will need these little introductions to this type of level.”

Dream draw to get Molde in the next round?

“Of course I would like to meet Molde. I spoke to Erling this morning and they had loads of injuries and illness, and the state of the season they are at that must be the performance of the round to go through against Hoffenheim. Absolutely exceptional, so proud of Erling and the boys and if we play them we know it is going to be difficult. Unfortunately if we draw them it is not going to be in Norway. From a sporting point of view I would rather take someone else probably.”

Shoretire?

“He is a young kid we believe in. Great attitude, you can see the shape of him physically we think he will be an athlete and technically very, very good. Makes good decisions. So we are gradually going to feed him into this team. He is grounded, he has got his feet firmly on the ground and he works really hard in training. A very likeable boy that we hope we can see loads of in the future.
