Transcript

Have you watched the post-match press conference yet? The boss heaped praise on our all-round performance...

Transcript

Q: Another win, most satisfying part of tonight?

“I thought second half we played really well and of course another clean sheet. Very happy with the way we came out second half and done, created chances, kept them away from our goal. It took us about 20-25 minutes to get going and then we seemed to pick up the tempo.”

Q: Paul’s performance?

“He’s getting better and better, improving. Which is natural because he’s getting game time and more and more, better fitness. He’s getting fitter and fitter so very pleased with the way he’s coming on.”

Q: 100 goals, fear factor back?

“I don’t know about how teams feel when they want to play us. We scored three today, I think talking about goal difference I think the defenders have done their job, created chances. I think we could have score three, four or five more so of course you’re happy with the way we created chances - we need to be more clinical though.”

Q: Pleased you won comfortably not at your best?

“First half, coming in to half time 2-0 up I don’t think our performance warranted a 2-0 lead but second half I thought we played really well. Of course we had the game where we wanted, they had to come and press and leave gaps and space. It’s not easy there’s game, after game, after game so we just have to keep doing the right things on the pitch and off the pitch. Now it’s recovery because there’s a game on Monday again.

Q: Lucky pen, 13th now?

“I don’t think so, I think the boy, he’s done a Zidane turn and the boy stuck his leg out and Bruno’s landed on him. So if I tried to jump away from someone and I land on someone who tries to tackle me it’s a penalty, so for me it’s a pen.”

Q: Won by three or more in four matches?

“I think we could have scored many, many more goals and we’re keeping clean sheets so, but of course we just keep on going into every game wanting to win. If you win 1-0, 2-0, 3-0 it doesn’t matter if we get the points. Hopefully the goal difference won’t be the deciding factor at the end, because we should have had 10 more goals the last two games.”

Q: Greenwoods temperament post lockdown?

“Ever since I came to the club, just before I came to the club the youth team beat Chelsea 5-1 or two or something, he scored three I think. I watched that game on video and it’s just natural for him to score goals and to handle the ball and now he’s playing with better players he’s enjoying it and he just gets on with his job which he should be and enjoying his football.

Q: Martial not happy coming off?

“Anthony’s getting fitter and fitter and he could have lasted the game of course and he’s starting every game. I’d be more worried if he wanted to come off. Everyone wants to be a part of the team, be on the pitch and he’s put a shift in so that’s fine. It’s great for me to have him available to start every game.

Q: Paul hungry, reference to his comments on Sky about not winning league. How far can you go?

“I’m sure Man United will mount a challenge and get back to winning the league. When that’s going to happen, that’s down up to every single one that’s here and how quickly we can make this process go. We’re definitely improving as a team, developing – but have to remember we’ve come a long way and we’ve come a long way in one season. Let’s just take Paul’s words into the dressing room and expect and demand more of each other every single day.”
