Ole: It’s looking bright!
See what the boss makes of Pogba’s goal, Henderson’s save, and United’s increasing momentum…
Well Ole is that essentially a job well done in a difficult venue? Yeah. A very well done job, because two very even games really, it was always going to be decided on a piece of quality, or a piece of magic from someone. Set play maybe. Dean had a fantastic save towards the end from Zlatan’s header. Very good goal by Paul. I think we did enough to go through. Paul came on at half-time. Did Marcus have an injury? Marcus was feeling something. We didn’t want to take any risks. I think he’ll be alright. Paul of course needs to get football back into his system. You could see what he gives us when he’s on the pitch. And the goal, in a tight area he kept his head brilliantly, didn’t he? Technically, he’s one of the best footballers around. It was a very good slot. Very happy for Paul that he’s back now and the boys have done very well. Two months without him, we’ve worked hard, playing a game every three days and now we’ve added Donny, David back, hopefully Anthony and Edinson is back soon, so it’s looking bright. You’re not conceding are you – 1 in seven I think and that was that last minute goal last week. If you don’t concede you’ve got a chance of winning haven’t you? And what an effort by everyone, from Mason up front, Dan and Marcus and Bruno. We know Scott and Fred in midfield. The back four always gives you everything and Dean made another good impact. You had one of the best teams in Spain last round, one of the best teams in Italy this round. Are you hoping for an easier draw… It’s going to be difficult, no matter what. We’ve beaten Sociedad, we’ve beaten AC Milan so we’re confident in our own ability. We know we have to turn up, we have to play well. We can’t play like we did, for spells in the first half at times last game against Milan. Coming into it with no intensity. League games, Europa League games. But we’re looking forward to it. That’s what we want. This is the only way we can improve and get used to boshing out games and winning games that matter. Can that momentum help repair tired legs? Momentum is underrated in football. When you keep winning games you get that boost of energy, you get that feeling when you go on to the pitch. You’re more confident. If you’re losing, you’re afraid of losing again and afraid of making mistakes. This means a lot for the boys and the atmosphere is good in the dressing room. We’ve just got to recover quickly because there’s a game again on Sunday.
