Solskjaer's verdict on Everton 1 United 3
Watch what Ole has to say about our performance, Bruno's display and an unhelpful fixture list...
Was that the perfect answer to people who have questioned the players and their character? "I said to you before, I didn't want to start talking about it [the scheduling] before the game but to ask these players to perform time and time again, and set us up 12:30 on a Saturday after being in Turkey, it's an absolute joke. There's absolutely no common sense whatsoever that we play on the 12:30 kick-off here today. The demands. We've lost players to injury today because of that. It bugs me, it bugs me a lot, that we had to play that game. Of course we've got three points but we've lost players through injury and that is never ever worth it. Some common sense would set us up on a Sunday. If you give these boys 48 or 50-x hours to recover. It's impossible to get a top performance from these boys when you play every two or three days like we do. When they've got a chance to put us on a Sunday, they don't. Sorry I'm just going on about this. Why we don't play on a Sunday is beyond me. We tried, the club's tried but it seems like the product and the quality... it's more the entertainment of seeing maybe Man United lose. These boys are not going to give them that satisfaction." Have we picked up injuries today then? "Yes. Victor's back, Marcus's shoulder, Luke Shaw's hamstring. That's three I can remember from the top of my head. I hope everyone else is okay. David didn't play [on Wednesday] but he had a groin problem before the game, after the travel."Adam, 15:11"Give us another 24 hours or 26, 28 hours to recover and you'll get a better game from us."The first half was top. Get on the ball, play and the goals we scored were fantastic. In the second half they went into survival mode because they're tired, they're on their knees but fair play to them. "You could see, of course, Scott, Fred, Victor didn't play, Juan didn't play the full game in Turkey. You could see they've got legs but the others were down on their knees." Going to Everton, who've had a week to prepare, and you were a goal down but you still came back to win 3-1. That says a lot? "It says a lot. If we can get this determination, mindset, approach every single game, we'll be hard to play against. You see all the tackles that Scott and Fred were winning in the middle there, we're tight, we're compact, we win the ball, we play, we've got spaces, that's how we want to see these boys. So we're very pleased with that. Sorry about my rant! [about kick-off time]! "I didn't want to do it [rant] before the game, because I don't want to start giving them excuses before but after, you have to have some common sense to let these boys showcase what they're really about. I thought we saw that at times today but to get this product better, fixture scheduling has to be better." Bruno's performance - two goals and an assist "A great performance, of course, leading the boys. His desire and determination, he's everywhere on the pitch. Sometimes that frustrates me because sometimes passes are played to where he should have been and he's not there. But when you've got someone who drives them [the team] on like this, of course you're very happy." And a captain's performance from Harry, who stood tall... "Harry's very, very important for this team. When you play against Everton, you know they're going to put crosses in the box. Calvert-Lewin is one of the best in the world at timing, leaping, heading, he's got a great teacher in Duncan [Ferguson] of course and I thought Harry and Vic did really well." And Cavani as well - if you give him a chance, he'll put it away? "It's great for him to get his first goal. That's a weight off his shoulders and now he's just ready to kick on."
