Ole’s pre-match interview
The boss has explained why Rashford gets the nod today, ahead of Cavani…
Ole, you’ve obviously made a few changes from Thursday. Is it about getting a fresh team against after playing just a few days ago?
“Yeah, that’s the name of the game really: that we always start every game as fresh as we can, start as bright as we can. And, of course, a few of them were suspended on Thursday; Marcus we rested. So we should be ready to go from the start.”
And Marcus is okay? He’s basically pretty fit? And I suppose Edinson is dropping down even though he’s in great form at the moment?
“Yeah, you know we’ve got to manage him well. He’s not played or he’s not started three games in a week for a long, long time, Edinson. So when I spoke to him he felt that being a substitute was probably the best thing. And Marcus, it’s a long, long time since I’ve asked him ‘How are you?’ and he’s said ‘Good’. That’s a very long time ago!”
And Burnley have a remarkably good record actually here, for the last few years or so. Are you expecting another tricky assignment today?
“Yeah, it always is. We know that away from home, Turf Moor, we’ve had five great wins, no conceded goals. Here we haven’t won in the last five years. I think we’ve conceded two goals in each of the last three, so we know that we have to play well, defend well, use the ball really brightly, because they’ll come and make it difficult for us.”
