Solskjaer: I'm very pleased with the response
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was delighted with the Reds' performance in Manchester tonight...
"A couple of things that needed to be said. We gave schoolboy error goals away, daft goals that were about jogging back. You've got to recover properly, run back, have more emergency in your chasing of the ball, win the ball in good positions. We know we're a good team if we defend properly like we have done lately, we haven't conceded goals like this. To concede two like this in a semi-final in Europe is not right and it had to be said." "I said also of course that it's still one-quarter of the tie is gone, we need to compose our heads, which I thought they did fantastically. we know that we are capable of scoring goals, as long as we didn't concede more goals, we needed two more goals to go through over three 45-minute spells, but now, I couldn't imagine how well we played second half. That was exhilarating [and] absolutely how we want to look. That's how we want to look like: full-backs going forward, front four combining, centre-backs playing out from the back, two midfielders patrolling there... absolutely excellent performance. What a performance by him [Cavani], could have two more, two good chances, his movement is excellent. There's some other times that we don't play him [in]. He's so good. To keep him fit will be so important for the rest of the season." "We enjoyed playing. We enjoy going forward, we smile, when you have that good body language, that urgency... we're so strong now fitness-wise. You see [in the] second half, the spaces just appear, they get bigger and bigger. You've got boys just feeling that belief, that robustness. Very happy, we know we're in a fantastic position halfway but we've got to focus on our day job again, and that's Liverpool." You could say we've got one foot [in the final], but you need two feet! We're still halfway. A fantastic result to build on but you've got to be focused. I've seen stranger things. Football comes back to bite you if you take it too easily. We've just got to focus on Liverpool first and then Roma.
