Solskjaer: We know that we can do better
The manager began his press conference by discussing our form and laughing at "blatant lies" in the media...
Good morning. I think you know how football works, but with four wins on the board this season people are concerned. How concerned are you and can you understand those concerns? “Yeah, we've had too many draws for my liking, defeats of course as well, but draws that we should have turned into wins and football is a results business of course. We're not happy, we know that we can do better and we're working hard to get those results on the board. The work that is going on here is always geared to us improving, but we're not getting all the results that we have deserved.” You know that you'll be the focal point, because you are the manager of the football club, but have you felt the need to speak to Ed Woodward, to the owners and get some reassurance that this long-term plan is in place? “We speak all the time, so it's not like a knee-jerk reaction that suddenly, now, we need to talk. We speak a few times every week, so it's continually progressing. The plans we put in place, the rebuilding that we know we've started, we made some decisions that we had to do, they were necessary, and of course we're not happy with where we are, but we'll continue working.” What's it going to take to lift it? Is it just purely beating Spurs and beating Manchester City? “Three days or four days that's not going to change a whole lot, but of course these two games are great chances for us to prove things and prove to ourselves that we can continue in the vein we've had against some of the better sides. Of course we've had some good results against good teams and we've got a plan for Wednesday night.” And people forget about the human being behind the manager. How are you with it all, because it's not easy when people are questioning all sorts, is it? “I'm good, I'm good, absolutely no problem. Sometimes you laugh when you read stories about what I've said and stuff. At least I know the sources that everyone's talking about are not sources. They're just made up blatant lies.”
