Lindelof: It's time to start winning trophies
"When you play for this club you should always play in the Champions League as a minimum," says Victor...
Victor, how was that? It was a tough game, we didn’t play our best but we showed strength as a team to come here and win 2-0 against a very strong team like Leicester. Job done and we go back in the Champions League. That’s always been our goal after the break to get that Champions League spot and we achieved that. Unbeaten run – what has been the key? I think every time we go out on the pitch we do everything together, we press as a team, we attack and defend as a team. We always do everything together and that’s been the main key for the unbeaten run. Everyone knows what they’re supposed to do on the pitch. If you know that, everything is easier then. We have so many good attackers as well that have been performing and as a defensive unit with David we’ve been having some really good games as well. Bruno – any doubt over penalty? No, I was quite confident when I saw it was a penalty. He’s a great penalty taker and I think he knew right away where he wanted to put the ball so I wasn’t nervous at all. Great moment for Jesse Yeah, it was a great moment to get the second goal. For him to do that was also a very good moment. I think everyone’s very happy for that. Mentally and physically robust – did we see that? I think so yeah. We didn’t perform at our highest level. We still went out there and fought as a team, we won tackles and we were mentally strong today. We showed that at 2-0 and yeah, another clean sheet. What does it mean to play Champions League? When you play for this club you should always play in the Champions League as a minimum. Now we’re back and it’s time for us to start winning trophies as well because we have to do that. We have one trophy left to win this season and that should always be the mentality, to win trophies. Our goal was to be back in the Champions League and now we have another one to win the Europa League. Is that silverware we can target in Germany next month? Yeah, of course. It’s a trophy to win and this club should always be aiming for trophies. It’s a great opportunity for us and to secure the Champions League spot today it gives the players a little bit more calm. We go to Germany – if we win the game against LASK at home and if we win we can travel to Germany and I’m really looking forward to it.
