Dalot: We fought until the end
TranscriptDiogo Dalot gives us his reaction, after helping the Reds to keep a clean sheet away from home against AZ Alkmaar...
Diogo, a point away from home in Europe is never a bad result. What do you make of the game tonight? “It was a tough game, on a difficult pitch. It was a difficult opponent, they played very well but we fought until the end, we kept a clean sheet and I think it’s a good point away from home.” You mentioned it was a difficult pitch and we spoke about it a lot yesterday. What was it like for the game? “It was difficult. It was easy for them, they’re used to playing on this kind of pitch. We’re Man United, we need to be ready for any challenge. We don’t use that as an excuse but of course it’s a difficulty that we need to go through. We did OK today, we defend well, we keep a clean sheet and that’s important as well.” It was quite difficult to create clear chances tonight? "I don’t want to say every time the pitch is difficult but we need to pass good, we need to do good crosses and that’s the way we need to keep. Yesterday we trained well on this pitch, we tried to do a good job. We create chances as well and I think we could score some goals as well but like I said at the end we need to keep the positives, look to what we did bad and improved that and I thought the clean sheet was important." It wasn’t as though David was making save after save, was it? "David did some good saves as well but David is there for doing that. We are there to stop as much as we can, to the box, to our goal. I think we tried until the end and we did good defending against a good team." Four points from two games. Back to back games against Partizan Belgrade to go, not a bad position to be in the group? "We’re Man United, we need to fight every game until the last minute. I think we go into the next game looking to the three points and the victory and that’s our mindset."
