United 0 Arsenal 1: Ole's press conference
Watch what the manager said when speaking to journalists in the post-match press conference at Old Trafford...
What went wrong in your mind? That's football for you. It’s not like you can turn on a tap and it comes flowing. We didn't perform well enough, especially in the first half, I felt we were a bit passive. We couldn’t get the intensity and tempo in our game and I think it had 0-0 written all over it. I don’t think either team deserved to win. Pogba has said his tackle was stupid - would you go along with that? Paul knows if he stays on his feet and just shuffles the boy along then… because he was on his way out of the box. It was a soft penalty to give away but these things happen. I know he didn’t touch him a lot but it was enough to give a penalty and unfortunately that went against us. Paul has held his hands up and knows he should have and could have done better in that instance and that was the difference in the teams today, it always looked like a 0-0 to me today. Why does it seem so difficult to win at Old Trafford in the league? I think playing home or away doesn’t really matter now because of the absence of crowds. Of course the fans would have helped today. I don’t think it’s a mental thing [not winning at OT in the league this season], I think it’s the quality of the opposition at times as well. We’re playing against good teams here and there are marginal decisions which give you a win or a loss, and today we lost on a soft penalty. That was the difference between the teams. Harry Maguire thinks the team was a bit complacent. Did you sense that? We prepared well, and prepared them for a big game because Arsenal is always a big game. Sometimes it’s hard to pick up where you left off because that’s not how it works in football. Everyone wanted to do well of course, we just couldn’t get going. That’s why we have a big squad and a good squad and today unfortunately we just couldn’t produce the performances we’ve seen before. That’s football for you. We play against very good players on the other side as well. Roy Keane said there were no leaders and no men out there. How do you react? First half there were no tackles and no fight and football is now about creating that atmosphere yourself. These games against Arsenal were always fiery and fierce with tackles flying. We didn’t have the tempo and intensity today, I can agree with that absolutely. I was disappointed with our first-half performance. Second half I thought we were better but unfortunately they got the penalty and we just couldn’t produce a response.
