Although it’s not as painfully awkward as the Admiral 1975 tracksuit, this velour walk on top from the 1977 FA Cup final is quite the eyebrow raiser. Each member of the team, as well as club staff such as kit man, Norman Davies, had one of these special-edition tops.
The embroidery, which was replicated on the jerseys, celebrates the silver jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, which was marked by street parties over the summer. Appearing on just our cup final kit, United were the only club to commemorate the occasion in this way.
