Top scorer Bruno seals best streak
Bruno Fernandes is in the hottest goalscoring streak of his Manchester United career.
The skipper scored twice in the 4-2 victory against Sheffield United to take his tally to 15 for the campaign. His first was a penalty, awarded for a foul on Harry Maguire, and the second, the Reds' third, was a fizzing left-foot drive that took a slight deflection and flew past Wes Foderingham in the visiting goal.
The Portugal international also provided the assist for Rasmus Hojlund's fourth on what turned into an enjoyable night at Old Trafford.
Fernandes has 15 goals for the season, in all competitions, and is the leading scorer for Erik ten Hag's men.
The double was enough to keep him ahead of Denmark hitman Hojlund, whose strike moved him on to 14 in his first term at the club.
It was the first time he has netted doubles in consecutive league games since joining the Reds but his hot streak is surely putting him in contention for the club's Player of the Year.
For this is the first time Bruno has found the net in five successive games in all competitions for the club.
The midfielder has twice managed a run of four consecutive outings with a goal, first in 2020, starting with that dramatic post-final whistle penalty at Brighton & Hove Albion.
Around a month later, he did the same, with a brace at Everton kicking off that particular run.
Our no.8 now has seven goals in his last five matches for the Reds, as he hits top form in the business end of the season.
