While a vocal backing throughout last week's narrow defeat at Eastlands brought scant reward, United supporters have another chance to roar the Reds to Wembley when Manchester City visit Old Trafford on Wednesday evening.
The club has agreed to cease the playing of pre-match music as the teams emerge from the tunnel, and will mute the sound system after The Stone Roses' 'This is the One' has been played.
This has been agreed to allow fans in the stands to provide their own choral support as the Reds look to overturn a 2-1 deficit against Roberto Mancini's Blues.
The change in pre-match routine comes as a result of a request from Stretford End Flags, a fans' group devoted to the improvement of the Old Trafford atmosphere.
SEF are responsible for a host of banners adorning the Stretford End, and also played a pivotal role in a string of mosaics which have preceded major United games in recent seasons.
