United's squad for the remainder of Tour 2023

Thursday 27 July 2023 18:30

Following contests with Arsenal, Wrexham and Real Madrid, the attention at Manchester United is beginning to turn towards our fourth and final match of Tour 2023, against Borussia Dortmund in Las Vegas.

The meeting with the Bundesliga outfit, set to be shown live in the early hours of Monday morning (UK time) on MUTV, will be an opportunity for Erik ten Hag’s squad to round off our pre-season trip to the United States on a high.

While it’s only been a little more than a week since we embarked on the visit to North America, it's worth noting that the make-up of that group at the boss' disposal has changed in places, from the initial 31-man assemblage that was confirmed to be flying out to North America last Wednesday.

The boss discussed the pair's involvement on Tour 2023 during his press conference after the Real Madrid game.

New signing Andre Onana added to that number as a late arrival in the States, after his transfer from Internazionale was finalised on the following day.

Erik has confirmed that experienced defender Jonny Evans and young forward Joe Hugill will now be the latest to join up with the senior camp, after they were among the 15 players that made the journey across the Atlantic to play in our recent friendly with Wrexham.

Nathan Bishop, Alvaro Fernandez, Dan Gore, Hannibal and Radek Vitek also played in that match against the League Two side at Snapdragon Stadium earlier this week and are set to be options for Ten Hag in Vegas, having been named in our initial 31-man Stateside squad.

Young inclusions Amad and Kobbie Mainoo were forced off with injuries in the outings against Arsenal and Real Madrid respectively, and the latter has now departed the tour as he is set to miss the first part of the 2023/24 season.

Another player who has departed the group is Anthony Elanga, having said goodbye to his team-mates earlier this week, before completing a permanent transfer to Nottingham Forest.

Fred was not included in the original travelling squad, staying in the UK to deal with a personal issue, and the Brazilian midfielder is yet to join up with the Reds. Defenders Rhys Bennett and Tyrell Malacia missed out on being in contention for tour selection due to injury.

Kobbie suffered an injury during our Tour 2023 clash against Real Madrid.

With the additions of Evans, Hugill and Onana to the day-one party, and following Elanga’s farewell and Mainoo's injury, our Tour 2023 squad is now made up of 32 names ahead of the trip finale at Allegiant Stadium.

You will be able to watch our west-coast meeting with Dortmund live on MUTV (02:00 BST kick-off).
