When Coles met Cole.

Feels like a film reference, right?

In fact, it perfectly describes the meet-up that took place prior to our clash with Arsenal in New Jersey earlier this week.

NFL legend Laveraneus Coles shook the hand of United great Andy Cole pitchside at MetLife Stadium, before the duo shared a picture together and exchanged shirts.

Coles was then interviewed by MUTV's Sam Homewood, and spoke glowingly about meeting his near-namesake.

"[It was] an amazing experience," he said.

"We have the same last names, I just have an 's' on mine.

"I'm sure he is one of the greatest legends to ever play the game and I'm just grateful I got to shake his hand."

Coles spent 11 years as a wide-receiver in the National Football League, after being drafted by the New York Jets - who play their home games at MetLife Stadium - in 2000.

Being pitchside, he was able to soak up the pre-match atmosphere ahead of the sell-out fixture, which there were more than 82,000 spectators in attendance for.

"It's amazing to see these guys," he added. "The fans are excited before the game.

"I am excited about just seeing the guys come out of the tunnel."
