United Briefing: Sir Alex's praise for Scott

Friday 23 April 2021 08:00

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has received some great words of encouragement from the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson.

The hard-working midfielder was signed during Sir Alex's tenure at the age of seven and the Academy graduate has become one of the mainstays in the team under current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. McTominay has racked up 43 appearances and scored seven goals, so far in this campaign.

In an interview with the BBC, Sir Alex compared our no. 39 to former United Scots Darren Fletcher and Brian McClair.

"We've been blessed," he told the BBC Sport website.

"I signed him when he was seven or eight years of age. McTominay is of a similar type to Darren. A bit long, lanky, a good winner of the ball, a good turn of pace going forward, a great attitude to the game."
