Northern Irishman Jonny Evans retired from playing at the end of the 2024/25 season, bringing the curtain down on a glorious career.

After coming through the ranks at his boyhood club, he helped Roy Keane's Sunderland win the Championship during one of two loan spells at the Stadium of Light and went on to make his mark back at Old Trafford.

Three times a Premier League winner, he came on in the FIFA Club World Cup final against LDU Quito in 2008, after Sir Alex Ferguson's side triumphed in the UEFA Champions League during the previous campaign, with the centre-back appearing twice in that competition.

Despite leaving for West Brom, and then lifting the Emirates FA Cup with Leicester City, his story with United had not ended.

A surprise return to the club, when his contract expired with the Foxes, led to a short-term deal, which would result in 43 more appearances for the first team. These included coming on as a substitute during the unforgettable FA Cup final win over Manchester City in May, 2024.

A legend for his country, amassing 107 caps, he was kept on in the role of head of loans and pathways and will continue his foray into coaching by working with former-mate Carrick, somebody he played alongside 130 times.

Jonny is sharing his knowledge with a squad he knows well.
