Ronaldo trains with his new United team-mates

Tuesday 07 September 2021 16:42

It gives us great pleasure to present the first exclusive images of Cristiano Ronaldo training with his new Manchester United team-mates, following his transfer back to the club last month.

CR7 completed his move from Juventus on 31 August and reported for national-team duty with Portugal: typically, he scored twice in a World Cup qualifying win over Republic of Ireland to become the record scorer at international level

A suspension picked up in that match meant Ronaldo was granted permission to leave the Portuguese camp last Thursday night and fly to Manchester, in preparation for his much-anticipated second spell at Old Trafford.

Cristiano reported to Carrington earlier today and, after spending time with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in his office, he joined his team-mates on the training pitch.

WORKING HARD IN SUNNY MANCHESTER

As you can see in our exclusive photos above, Ronaldo has wasted little time and has already built up a sweat in his new United training kit.

The Portuguese has been delighted by the glorious weather that has blessed Manchester and can be seen taking on plenty of water in the session, with his former team-mate and our current technical director, Darren Fletcher, watching on.
Cristiano is currently working with our players who were not involved in international action over the ongoing break, including the likes of Diogo Dalot, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Alex Telles, Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic, Donny van de Beek, Mason Greenwood and other first-team squad members.

Summer signing Jadon Sancho can also be seen in our images, after the England international returned from Gareth Southgate’s squad prematurely due to a slight injury concern. He is expected to be fit for Saturday's match against Newcastle.

A number of young Academy players were also involved in senior training, as is the norm at Carrington, with Hannibal, Joe Hugill, Teden Mengi and others soaking up Ronaldo’s experience.
WILL RONALDO FACE NEWCASTLE?

It remains to be seen if Cristiano is available for selection in Saturday’s Premier League match against the Magpies at Old Trafford, where a 15:00 BST kick-off is scheduled.

Solskjaer will presumably provide an update on Friday during his pre-match press conference with the media and you can watch that live, as ever, via MUTV, ManUtd.com and the United App. The exact timing is yet to be confirm, but it is usually broadcast at 13:30 BST.

Remember to make your United Predictions for this weekend’s match by telling us your starting XI, first scorer, correct scorer and Man of the Match. The fan with the most accurate predictions will win a signed shirt, sent to you wherever you are in the world. Good luck!

Welcome home, CR7:
