How to follow Bridgwater v United Women

Saturday 29 January 2022 10:29

Manchester United Women’s FA Cup campaign springs into life this weekend, as we travel to Somerset to face Bridgwater United on Sunday afternoon.

Currently boasting an impressive six-game unbeaten run, the Reds blew away Tottenham Hotspur last time out, claiming a impressive 3-0 home victory in the WSL.

Attentions now turn to the cup for what is our first-ever game against the third-tier outfit, with a place in the last 16 of the competition up for grabs.

Here’s all the information you need ahead of the fourth-round clash…

HOW TO WATCH

With tickets now completely sold out for Sunday’s 14:00 GMT kick-off, a brilliant cup-like atmosphere is promised at Fairfax Park, as Bridgwater and United prepare for a full capacity of 2,500.

It was reported that over 1,000 tickets were snapped up within the first 24 hours of them going on sale and there is no doubt that Marc Skinner’s side will be eagerly watched by large numbers of both home and away supporters, once the tie gets under way.

If you do not have a ticket for the match and would like to follow along with the action, the game will not be broadcast live on TV in the UK, so be sure to keep up to date via the Manchester United App, where we will bring you the team news, as well as updates at half-time and full-time.

TEAM NEWS

With three new additions beginning to integrate into Skinner's side following Thursday's WSL deadline day announcements, it is unknown as of yet whether we will see our new signings make their debuts at Fairfax Park this weekend. England midfielder Jade Moore, who completed her move to the club last week, is not in contention to feature on Sunday, as she continues to work her way back up to full fitness from an injury.

Lucy Staniforth is also still sidelined for the Reds, but midfielder Kirsty Hanson has since returned to training. Although this weekend's tie will unfortunately come too soon for the 23-year-old, Skinner has hinted at a possible return for the Scotland international next month.

Martha Harris will however be in contention for the trip to the south west, having missed out against Spurs last weekend.

FORM GUIDE

The Reds are in good shape ahead of this one and come into the game off the back of that impressive 3-0 home triumph over Spurs last Sunday.

As well as not conceding across our last six matches, Skinner's side have netted 18 goals at the other end, in that time. The run has seen us progress to the last four of the Continental Tyres League Cup and climb up to third place in the WSL table.

As for the Bridgwater, the Robins produced the shock of the round last time out, as they defeated in-form FA Women’s Championship club Crystal Palace 1-0 at Fairfax Park.

In what is only 12 months on from the merger of Yeovil United and Bridgwater Town, the Somerset club are enjoying life in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division and currently occupy fourth in the standings.

Much like United, Jamie Sherwood's team have not tasted defeat so far this calendar year, so both unbeaten records in 2022, and a place in round five, will firmly be on the line come 14:00 GMT on Sunday.
