Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has completed a permanent move to Napoli.

The Scotland international rose through the ranks to become one of our most celebrated Academy players of his generation, appearing 255 times for the first team, after being handed his debut by Jose Mourinho, against Arsenal in 2017.

There were many highlights for the popular 27-year-old during his time as a Red, as he gave his all for his boyhood club and earned the respect and trust of each of his managers.

Scott McTominay's exit is emotional for the player, his team-mates, Erik ten Hag and the Academy…

Scott became an important cog in the side in midfield and, of course, enjoyed some unforgettable moments, including lifting the Carabao Cup and Emirates FA Cup since Erik ten Hag took charge in 2022.

One goal that means so much to a lot of fans, coming shortly before the country was forced into lockdown due to the Covid pandemic, was the long-range effort in the Old Trafford rain that sealed an emotional 2-0 derby day victory over Manchester City in March, 2020.

Of his 29 senior goals for the Reds, a career-high 10 came last term, with the late brace to turn the home match with Brentford on its head bringing the house down at the Theatre of Dreams.

McTominay scored more times against Aston Villa than any other opponents (three) but his game has always been about much more than goals.

His final outing came as a substitute in the defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion last time out but he also appeared at Wembley in the Community Shield earlier this month, calmly converting his penalty in the shootout.

He found the net in regular time at the national stadium when opening the scoring against Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-final last season. The midfield man had also struck first in the previous round, against Liverpool at Old Trafford, and played a big part in helping the Reds win the second piece of silverware under Ten Hag.

ALL THE GOALS | A lifelong Red, Scott McTominay was so proud to score 29 times in 255 appearances...

McTominay will be missed by everyone at the club and leaves with our best wishes as he embarks on a new chapter of his career in Italy.

The switch to Serie A giants Napoli sees him him link up again with former United team-mate Romelu Lukaku, who has finalised a transfer from Chelsea, and play under Antonio Conte.

Good luck, Scott, arrivederci and thank you for the fabulous memories.
