Fernandes retains Player of the Month crown
Bruno Fernandes has been crowned Manchester United's Player of the Month, presented by Tiger Beer, for a second time in succession.
Our captain won February's prize by a landslide but stepped it up even further in March, scoring six goals and providing two assists across five appearances.
He started the month with the equaliser against Fulham in the Emirates FA Cup and, although it ultimately proved in vain, he did also convert his penalty in the shootout.
Although unlucky to be pulled up for handball in our box during the away tie at Real Sociedad, and having an effort cleared off the line in San Sebastian, he took centre stage again, against Arsenal, by firing a memorable free-kick past David Raya at the Stretford End.
Bruno produced a virtuoso display in the home leg of the Europa League last 16, bagging his second hat-trick since joining the club from Sporting. Two came from the spot, before he added a precise finish to Alejandro Garnacho's well-timed through ball.
In the 3-0 win at Leicester City last time out, he supplied assists for both Rasmus Hojlund and Garnacho before providing the coup de grace with a thumping drive for the late third.
All that was enough to see of the challenges of Casemiro and Matthijs de Ligt, who were our other nominees in March.
This is the 12th (TWELFTH!) time Fernandes has come out on top of this particular poll since he signed for United in the winter of 2020.
The Portuguese claimed four of the last five prizes handed out that season and added another two in 2020/21 - his personal-best campaign at the club, in terms of goals and assists.
A relatively quiet year, with no award wins, followed in 2021/22, but Fernandes has now claimed a couple of accolades in each of the last three terms and there's still time to add more.
Congratulations, Bruno - we hope you keep it up!
