Donny van de Beek has completed a permanent move to Girona in La Liga.

The midfielder has thanked the Reds fans for their warmth and support during his time at Old Trafford, which started when he signed from Ajax in 2020.

Scoring a goal on his debut, against Crystal Palace, he made 36 appearances, in all competitions, during his first campaign as a Red.

In total, he played 62 times, also netting in the away game at Watford in 2021, but has had two loan spells away from the club.

Donny van de Beek has thanked the United fans for their support.

In the winter window of 2022, he made a short-term transfer to Everton, finding the net in a Premier League game against Arsenal. Upon his return, a knee injury suffered against Bournemouth, a year later, was a terrible stroke of luck and cut short his season.

Last January, he switched to Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt on a temporary basis, but is now making a move to another of the big European leagues.

Girona are competing in the UEFA Champions League, after an excellent third-placed finish in La Liga.

Posting on Instagram, Donny sent this message: "Dear Manchester United family, today is a memorable day as my adventure at the club comes to an end.

"I want to thank you all for your support throughout the years. From the moment we arrived at Manchester United, we felt extremely welcome and we are grateful for that.

"Thank you to everyone at the club for making us feel at home. A special thanks to all the fans that made these years unforgettable.

"Besides the football, the birth of our two children here ensures that Manchester will always have a special place in our hearts.

"Good luck to everybody, we'll meet again."
