A high-performance training base for Manchester United Women and Academy has opened its doors at Carrington Training Centre.

The multi-million-pound building is the new permanent home of the women’s team and features a state-of-the-art gym, rehabilitation areas including a jacuzzi, and large changing, kit and boot rooms.

Upstairs is the players’ lounge and women’s first team restaurant, complete with a live cooking area, as well as analysis and meeting rooms for support staff.

Polly Bancroft, Head of Women’s Football, is delighted to present a brand new high-performance facility at Carrington...

Construction on the new facility started in February and the building became fully operational before the start of the 2023/24 Women’s Super League season.

The boys’ Academy teams will also benefit with access to a separate gym in the new building, as well as office space for support staff and team meetings as the Academy continues its drive to produce outstanding youth talent.
The building is part of significant ongoing investment and improvement work to enhance facilities for all our players at Carrington.

That is mirrored by investment in facilities at Littleton Road and The Cliff to ensure we are providing the best possible training facilities for players and staff from youth to first teams.
Collette Roche, Chief Operating Officer, said: “We are always looking to improve our facilities and we are delighted that the detailed planning has led to an outstanding building that will rival any women’s training facilities in Europe and provide space for growth for our Academy.

“Across our facilities we have invested more than £20 million in improvement work over the last year and this building is an example of the progress we are making to create the best environments for our teams to succeed.”

Polly Bancroft, Head of Women’s Football, added: “We’re really pleased to be opening the new building here at Carrington; it’s a dedicated space for the women and another sign of our commitment to building a strong position in the women’s game.”

“We now have a high-performance environment to operate in which will help take the team to the next level following the impressive performances we have seen on the pitch.

“It is also important for the girls academy sides to see the players they admire having access to high-quality facilities to help them reach the highest level.”
