Monday 16 September 2019 18:43

Manchester United Women head coach Casey Stoney has selected the following side to face Arsenal in the Women's Super League:

United Women: Earps; A. Turner, McManus, M. Turner, Smith; Ladd, Zelem; Galton, Toone, Sigsworth; Ross.

Substitutes: Mikalsen, Harris, Green, James, Arnot, Hanson, Edwards.

Arsenal Women: Zinsberger; Maier, Williamson, Beattie, McCabe; Roord, Nobbs, Little, Evans; Miedema, Mead.

Substitutes: Peyraud-Magnin, Mitchell, Quinn, Schnaderbeck, Grant, Filis, van de Donk.

Explaining the absence of summer signings Jackie Groenen and Lotta Okvist, Stoney told us:

"Unfortunately Lotta suffered concussion in training over the weekend so will not be involved in tonight’s game for obvious reasons.

Jackie Groenen is absent from the line-up against Arsenal.
"Jackie picked up a knock last weekend in the derby and is also unavailable for us.

“It’s disappointing to lose a couple of players but that’s football, it happens, and we’ve got great depth in our squad to be able to manage it. We’ll be going out tonight looking to put on a strong performance and get a result as always.”

Stoney's six substitutes include Maria Edwards, a 16-year-old called up from our Under-21 side.

Kick-off at Leigh Sports Village is 19:30 BST. The full match will be shown later on MUTV, after full-time.
