New adidas Originals shoe launches Friday

The Barcelona 99 shoe celebrates the 20-year anniversary of the club’s treble-winning season. The shoe will evoke particular nostalgia for fans who witnessed that famous night in Barcelona’s Nou Camp stadium, where United clinched the UEFA Champions League trophy in dramatic style with a last-gasp goal from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

In subtle nods to that iconic moment, Ole’s knee-slide celebration is featured in the sock lining, and the minutes of the winning goals (90+1 and 90+3) are detailed on the shoe tongue. A devil icon is branded on the heel, with the word “treble” also included on the laces.

The limited edition Manchester United Barcelona shoe will be the first release of this historic silhouette in over 30 years – meaning it is set to be hugely desirable among avid collectors.

There will be just 1,999 pairs available from 9am on Friday 1 November at the Old Trafford Megastore, selected Manchester retailers, or by pre-registering here.
