Leon: Old Trafford outing will be special

Friday 02 December 2022 11:02

Manchester United Women forward Adriana Leon says it will be another “special moment for everyone” when the Reds take on Aston Villa at Old Trafford tomorrow.

The WSL clash (12:30 GMT kick-off) - which tickets are available for here - will be the team’s third match at the Theatre of Dreams following victories over West Ham in 2021 and Everton earlier in 2022.

Leon was actually a West Ham player at the time of that first fixture but didn’t feature on that day, meaning that Saturday’s outing with United could see her take to the hallowed turf for the first time in her career.

Adriana Leon previews United Women's game at Old Trafford and discusses life as a Red so far...

“I’m definitely looking forward to it,” she told club media recently, in an interview conducted at Old Trafford.

“It’s going to be a very special moment for everyone, it’s great to get a game here and we’re really looking forward to it.”
An Old Trafford appearance would no doubt be one of the highlights of Adriana’s United career so far, having joined the club in the summer.

“Life as a United player has been pretty good so far, no complaints, I’ve really enjoyed my time,” she said.

“Everyone made sure to make me feel really welcome, so it’s been great.

“It’s a little bit different to living in London, a little bit slower pace, a little bit less hectic living up here which is actually quite nice, and it’s been a nice change so far.”

The Canada international, who scored her first goal for the club in the recent win over Brighton, went on to elaborate on the chemistry she’s experienced within her new team, during the last few months.

“The group is a close-knit group; everyone is pretty easy going.

“We have a good group here and it’s nice to be a part of.”
