Amad thankful for United return

One plus point in Manchester United's defeat at Nottingham Forest on Saturday was the return to action of Amad.

The Ivory Coast international made his first competitive appearance for the Reds since a Champions League match against Young Boys in December 2021.

After his impressive loan spell at Sunderland in the Championship last term, the 21-year-old forward unfortunately sustained a knee injury during pre-season which hindered his progress.

But after a lengthy road to recovery, Amad made his comeback as a substitute in the 54th minute at The City Ground to replace Antony. He made a positive impression overall, including one effort at goal when cutting in from the right flank when he forced a save from Forest keeper Matt Turner at the near post.

Amad expressed his appreciation on social media after the game for the support he has received throughout his recovery.

“I thank everyone who prayed for me during my injury,” Amad posted on X, formerly Twitter.

“Being on the field today after five months was truly a special day for me... this team will come back stronger like it always has. I am proud and I thank God for allowing me to be on this team.”

Amad will be hoping for more opportunities in the coming weeks, with our next match against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup third round on Monday 8 January.
