Tuanzebe and Fosu-Mensah set for U23s outing

Monday 02 March 2020 15:27

Axel Tuanzebe and Tim Fosu-Mensah will step up their return to fitness by featuring in the Manchester United Under-23s side tonight (Monday).

Neil Wood's team are in action at Stoke City's Bet365 Stadium and the Premier League 2 clash is live on MUTV, with kick-off at 19:00 GMT.

The Reds are currently three points adrift of leaders West Ham United in the Division 2 table.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer suggested last week that Tuanzebe and Fosu-Mensah were likely to be available for an outing at this level.

Axel has been sidelined since playing in the Carabao Cup win over Colchester United on 18 December. Tim's last United appearance was the final match of the 2016/17 season, against Crystal Palace, but he has been out on loan to the Eagles and Fulham in previous campaigns.

Fosu-Mensah, who had a knee injury, initially made his comeback in the Under-23s' clash with Newcastle on 10 January but then suffered a small setback with a minor thigh problem.

The Dutchman played in a holding midfield role in that fixture with the Magpies' second string and has often shown his versatility.

If all goes to plan, it will be good news for Solskjaer with so many first-team matches on the horizon, at home and abroad.
